TURNING DREAMS INTO REALITY

"AMARIS"
EBONY AMARIS HAMPTON
It’s the A to the MARIS, born in Philadelphia, PA but raised in the southern streets of Orangeburg; SC. Being born and raised in two different necks of the woods gave me a whole new twist of the game. I knew that in the city it would have been easier to fall in line when it came down to the entertainment world, but being that my family moved down south I had to adjust to a whole new mind set. In other words most people in the south have small minds and don’t really believe anything that they don't see in front of them. So with that you can imagine what I’ve been through and am still going through the ups, downs, ins and outs of the music business.
I started in this game at an early age, being a 12 year old female trying to hang out with the hard core male rappers I had to come correct and hold my own ground. In high school I moved around from group to group filling in the gaps. Back then I was one of the only females in my high school that would go public as a rapper so that gave me a little room to shine. So every chance I got I was performing. One of the fondest memories was when I performed in my high school library. That performance was a good learning experience, because it showed me just how much people really enjoyed what I had to offer, and it gave me the courage to take myself more serious. I also was in a female girl group called T3. But dreams turned to promises and promises turned to lies and a lie is what caused that group to part. It took me a long time to trust again, but adventurely I did. I always had a passion for other creative things like Acting, Song writing, Poem writing, producing and screenplay writing. I attended drama class all through high school and I was one of the best screenplay writers and actors in my class. I was the one who would write my play for my group and would have to co-write on other projects. Drama still lives within me I just put it aside to focus on my writing and producing skills.
Now when it comes to song writing that’s where my heart is. I’ve written and co-write on projects. I’ve even went to Boston, MA to write on a male rapper project by the name of Lavel. He is trying to get a deal with Electra Records. I’ve been ask to write for some underground labels. I’ve co wrote with some unsigned writers who after the project was finished had a different outlook about the project and didn’t want to foresee it. Song writing is a way for me to let out a lot of things that can’t be said for things that I rather not say directly.
After moving to Atlanta, losing my mother in 2010 and watching my daughter look up to me. I’ve put a speed on making this dream come to a reality. My mom always taught me to never give up and that I can make it. And through all the things I have been through I must say it made me stronger and helped me to grow as a writer, rapper, producer and anything I put my mind to. At 33 years old I see myself like a sponge trying to suck up every piece of information I can to be better myself and to be able to let some of the juices that flow within me leak out on into other avenues that will better my career. See I may know more than the next man in some situations but I may need that same man in other situations, so with that I hope you’ve enjoyed a little taste of what you get when you get to know.A M A R I S the newest youngest and most dedicated Talented female from the birth of the city to the streets of the south
